Level 3 kayak skills assessment

Service Description

The day is designed for those wishing to achieve the Canoeing Ireland L3 river skills award. As a registered provider Fluid flow will assess and guide through the day. Requirements for attendance: Be over 12 years of age Be a current member of Canoeing Ireland Be able to demonstrate techniques & strokes Strokes: Forward Paddle, Reverse Paddle Emergency Stop. Forward Sweep, Reverse Sweep, and a combination of Forward and Reverse Sweep. Draw Stroke Sculling Draw Hanging Draw Low Brace High Brace Sculling for Support Stern Rudder Bow Rudder Techniques: Entry and Exit Edging/leaning. Forward Ferry Gliding Reverse Ferry Gliding Breaking In Breaking Out Rescues & Techniques Capsize Drill Offensive & Defensive Swimming Assisted X Rescue and an X Rescue Eskimo Rescue Eskimo Roll Throw and receive a throw rope as a rescuer and a swimmer Theory: Knowledge of Safety Rules An understanding of Eddies, Standing Waves, Upstream & Downstream V’s, Stoppers, and Easy River Routes An understanding of river signals and commands. River Running Methods – leapfrog, herd and drive etc

To cancel or reschedule please contact us 24 hours in advance. Our experiences are subject to weather and river conditions, if we feel either is going to adversely affect the experience or make it unsafe we will be in contact to reschedule. For a session to run we need a minimum of 4 participants
